2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 40,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 15 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Lovers in an Autumn Park..x 2

Last post of 2011 (but certainly not the last 2011 pics…I’ve got a few more to post still) is here! This post shows off two loving couples walking hand in hand in beautiful autumnal parks, with golden leaves strewn around them. The rebelliousness of their gestures contrasts with the serene setting and makes both photos so memorable.

The couple below look like students, especially with the man’s beret worn backwards and laptop case. The girl wears a black trench coat, jeans, black boosts with a slightly platform sole, and a green knit scarf (or could this be just like my knit snoods?) draped low to show off her golden hair.

This couple may also be students (the backpack straps on the guy’s shoulders seem to suggest it), and the girl wears a classic manteau style- black coat, jeans, and Converse shoes. The outfit stands out due to the olive military style jacket worn over the manteau and the brown and beige striped scarf showing off her fluffy dark brown hair.

I will be back in 2012 (in Feb. this blog will turn 3!)! May next year bring happiness to everyone, and who knows..maybe this blog won’t be necessary. Happy New Year!

Volleyball Match Spectators’ Gorgeous Manteau Style Part II

This is the last of the special “feature posts” for the year (part 1 can be seen here). As always, the pics so laboriously blurred represent the hottest manteau styles that certain idiots get too aroused by…

The white manteau and white pants ensemble is very simple, but the way the girl’s brown silk scarf is tied isn’t- it seems to be tied back into a hat-like structure perched on her black hair with two halves flowing down the back of her shoulders.

Not only the girl in the front but even the two girls in the back (one boasting an impressive cone hairstyle) were blurred- how ridiculous! I do like the black manteau with gold buttons- it has that old-fashioned military jacket appeal.

The black snood in the foreground covers the entire neck of the girl, wearing a yellow-beige checkered manteau, but I guess it is too pushed back on her auburn hair, and she gets the blur treatment too. This one is hard to comprehend (the girl with her scarf worn so far back that all her hair is proudly visible in the black manteau also gets blurred, but that one makes sense to “THEM”..not to me). Any wonder that I treat said “them” so harshly in my own crackdown banners?

This photo of a multitude of girls in different manteaus walking out of the volleyball match reminds me of some of the 2003-2005 Bia2.com candid photos. Even the clothing is similar- open scarves, especially the white and blue one in the front, white or light blue coats, jeans, and flat shoes or sneakers.

These girls, chatting on cell phones outside the stadium, look classic in their neutral colored tunics (black and beige) and pushed back scarves showing off wonderful hair. Note that two of the 4 girls wear loafers with bare feet, which looks good, and the girl on the right wears grey track pants with her black manteau, which looks not so good.

Finally, this dreamy close-up shows off how a heavy pashmina is worn as a beautiful fabric accessory, creating a gorgeous effect with the girl’s dark hair. I wish this photo was not blurred because I think the girl looks beautiful.

Grey Trench Coat and Jeans Tucked In Boots

I love this grey trench coat because it only has two buttons- therefore, the hem is cut very high and the coat is quite open at the bottom to reveal the girl’s jeans fully. Said jeans are skinny, hugging the legs tightly, which is accented been more by the girl’s flat black zippered boots. The pushed back black snood and the camera in her hands suggest that she might be a photography student, in which case this is a really awesome rebellious update of the “student outfit”- love it!

Just in case you forgot, here are the classic student outfits (which I posted exactly 2 years ago!)- black (or any dark or neutral color) tunics, dark (usually), pushed back snoods, jeans, and flat shoes.

Red Manteau and See Through Scarf

Looking at a beautiful painting at an art exhibit (where some amazing examples of manteau style can be regularly found), this girl shows off a beautiful bright red trench coat and a matching bag. The most amazing element of her style is her knit black scarf, whose open weave allows much of her long brown hair to be seen both through the front (where a cute bow hairpin holds it in place) and back.

Manto Khatere 2011-2012 Special Edition- Leopard Print

I am back…I had a good Christmas break, and among my presents there is actually a new snood (people know I love scarves and snoods, so I always end up getting at least 1 as a gift)- this is knit and dark brown and very warm for this time of year! And I am not sick anymore either!

Now, here are some more manteaus from Manto Khatere, these ones all united by the presence of my favorite leopard print pattern in some way.

This trench coat manteau is dusty rose pink, with leopard inserts on the collar, sleeves, and belt.

This black coat has more narrow leopard inserts in the same locations as the first one, plus one on the slightly pleated hem.

This simple blue trench coat has a small grey leopard print collar and chest pockets.

Finally, this beige trench coat has leopard print collar, pockets, and stripes underneath the collar.

Too bad there wasn’t an all-over leopard print manteau among all the Manto Khatere coats!

Christmas 2011 Manteau Style

I am not feeling well right now, as I have a flu-like viral infection, plus I am going to take a couple days off from the blog for Christmas anyway. Here are two brand new manteau shots with some nice Christmas trees in the background!

Pushed back gorgeous scarves exposing glamorous hairstyles, a hoodie worn over a long manteau and an open beige cardigan- yup, it must be winter!

Purple manteau worn with a black open scarf and jeans tucked into tall velvet boots with tassels is definitely a hot winter style! It’s one I wear so often now, by the way….since it is cold.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas…and I will be back in a couple days, when I get better.

Manteau Ambiance 56

The backpacks and the pushed back black snoods tell the story- these are the “student outfits” (most famously seen here, here, and here, but also present in other posts). As always, the simple “dark coat + jeans + sneakers + snood” combination is made lively by a variety of colorful accessories or modifications. On the left, the coat seems to be brown rather than black and paired with aviator sunglasses, a blue knit sweater that the girl holds back to front, and yellow sneakers with green laces. In the center, a peach colored scarf is casually draped about the neck, which pushes the snood even further down and exposes lots of chestnut curls. On the right, the black manteau is embroidered on the hem and elbow-length sleeves (a black long sleeve top is worn underneath) and the crown of the girl’s head is adorned by a silver hair ribbon, matching her flat shoes!

Lounging on the Grass in Manteaus

A happy group of friends lounges on the grass in a park, and manteau style is well represented here. The coolest thing is that I have tunics/tops in both colors shown here- brown and red and white plaid! The blond girl in the brown short-sleeved tunic pairs it with a black long-sleeved top and jeans, which, incidentally, is what I often wear my brown tunic (with 3/4 length sleeves) with. Her shiny pink scarf is one thing I do not have, as I don’t like the color pink and own very items in it. The red and white plaid manteau is very short (similar to my short shirt in those shades) and is worn with a pushed back grey scarf and grey pants.

Manteau Ambiance 55

Hanging out in a park, these girls exemplify classic casual manteau style that involves no snoods and comfortable tunics, jeans, and sneakers. The white manteau is worn by itself, while the black manteau has elbow-length sleeves and is worn over a blue, striped, ribbed knit sweater. In general, I like the latter outfit more, with its skinny jeans, black scarf perched atop a tall-ish hairstyle, and flower-and-diamond printed bag slung over the shoulder.
